Deze keer richt ik de spots op de helaas in 2015 overledenTexaanse singer-songwriter David Rodriguez uit Houston. David was in de muziekscene van Texas legendarisch, hij werkte samen met o.a.Townes Van Zandt, Lyle Lovet en Stevie Ray Vaughan. In 1990 vestigde hij zich vanwege de liefde in Dordrecht. Hier bleef hij buiten de spotlights. Hij trad op als straatmuzikantg en was mentor voor o.a. de Dordtse bluesband The Rhythm Chiefs. In 2015 besloten ze het album “Rise and Shine” op te nemen. Kort na de opnames overleed David plotseling op 63 jarige leeftijd. Tien jaar later is het album alsnog uitgebracht.
This time I turn the spotlight on Houston-based Texas singer-songwriter David Rodriguez, who sadly passed away in 2015. David was legendary in the Texas music scene, working with the likes of Townes Van Zandt, Lyle Lovet and Stevie Ray Vaughan. In 1990, because of love, he settled in Dordrecht. Here he stayed out of the spotlight. He performed as a buskerg and was a mentor for the Dordrecht blues band The Rhythm Chiefs, among others. In 2015, they decided to record the album “Rise and Shine.” Shortly after recording, David died suddenly at the age of 63. Ten years later, the album was still released.
